Jayson Werth's home run gives Phillies 5-4 win over Washington

The Phillies kept pace with the Mets by coming from behind to beat the Nationals 5-4 in South Philly Tuesday night. Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the 7th, Philadelphia was able to manufacture a run through a series of hits to tie the game at 4-4. Jayson Werth gave the Phillies the lead and an eventual 5-4 victory with a home run in the bottom of the 8th. Ryan Madson got the win. Brad Lidge notched his 31st consecutive save. The Mets knocked off the Braves 7-3 to remain two games in front of the Phillies for first place in the NL East. The Phillies and Nationals play game two of their three game series Wednesday night at 7.
